ACT Out East's Mainstage Program offers an all-encompassing musical theatre learning experience. The program is designed for young people aged 10 and up and provides intensive acting, voice,  and dance training in a vibrant, company-based environment.  The program runs September - May.

  • ACTING classes consist of scene study, character development, improvisation, and theatre games
  • VOICE classes include breathing technique, expanding range and tone, individual critique, and building a repertoire
  • DANCE classes are comprised of Broadway-style jazz and tap

During the first semester (September-December) students are divided into small groups for acting, voice, and dance classes. Classes focus on individual work and culminate in a performance of scenes, monologues, songs, and dance for family and friends.

The second  semester builds on the training the students have received.  Auditions are held in January and a full--scale musical theatre production is cast for a May performance. Tickets are sold to the general public. There are two evening performances and one matinee.

Classes, rehearsals, and performances are all held at the historic Vail Leavitt Music Hall  in Riverhead, giving students a uniquely genuine theatre experience.
